Design Recommendations

I'm lost... Can you break it down?

We got you!! Please check out our recommendations below before uploading or creating designs!

  • What file types are acceptable?

Vector Files: (Recommended- can be resized without losing quality)

    • SVG
    • PDF
    • AI (Illustrator)
    • EPS

Raster Files: (acceptable-can't be resized without losing quality)

    • PNG
    • TIF
    • PSD (Photoshop)
    • BMP
    • JPEG

  • What colors are used?

    • Direct-to-film (DTF) printers use CMYK colors to create prints, so colors designed in RGB color mode may not translate accurately.
    • RGB has about 16.7 million colors, while CMYK is constrained to only about 16,000 colors.
    • Our Raster Imaging Processor (RIP) Software will automatically convert your designs to CMYK. To avoid distorted colors and dull prints, you can convert RGB colors to CMYK before sending your artwork.
  • Does Image resolution matter?

    • The recommended image size in pixels is 300 pixel per inch
(PPI). Uploaded images should also be saved at 300 dots per inch (DPI).
    • Example: If you want a 12” x 12” image it should be 3600 x 3600 pixels. This will print an image of 12” x 12” at 300 DPI. Math: 3600 Pixels/ 300 DPI = 12 inches.
  • How do I get crisp unbroken lines?

    • For standalone lines (lines not part of a larger image), the minimum recommended line width is 0.019". Anything smaller may not adhere properly to your garment.
    • When submitting files, ensure that there are no semi-transparent pixels on the design. Semi-transparent pixels may cause thin white outlines, halos, or random artifacts on or around your design.

  • Got any other cool techniques?

    • Ensure that your submitted designs have a transparent background unless you intended to have one. DTF printing will reproduce everything in the image you send, including any background colors.
    • Soft edges or fadeouts, such as the glow in the image, can lead to a white halo around the DTF print. To achieve a fadeout look without this halo, consider applying the HALFTONE TECHNIQUE during the design process.
